It was similar to CP, although only 1 room was in it: the Town! It also had a Coffee Shop, Gift Shop and Night Club. Notice how there is no pathways:
On Penguin Chat, you could go in the Night Club, but there wasn't DJ3K, Dance Contest, Cadence, or even a lounge! Here's what the Night Club looked like on the inside. Notice the Penguin band in the back:
Like CP, the penguins had an igloo, but a bit smaller. Here is a pic of a penguins igloo: (Notice the Penguin Band on top)
It also had emotions. Some of Penguin Chat's emotions were taken to CP. Here are the emotions:
Penguin Chat also created the ninja penguin. CP was going to put in the ninja when it was first created, but it went with secret agents instead. They introduced the Ninjas in November of 2008.
When creating your penguin on Penguin Chat 3, if you clicked the 'n' in "select your new penguin", you were able to pick the ninja.
Notice how the ninja penguin from Penguin Chat 3 is similar to the ninja on CP now:
Like CP, you could drill the ground if you wore a hard hat.
Then, suddenly Penguin Chat 3 closed down and Club Penguin was created in August 2005. Rocketsnail announced a better version of Penguin Chat 3 known as Club Penguin. At this time, the Club Penguin website only had a logo and said it was under construction. Miniclip sponsored Club Penguin and many new members joined the game.
After 2 months of testing, Club Penguin officially opened in October 2005. The beta testing party lasted for a few parties, and penguins who helped test received a free beta party hat.
Penguins could pick up the beta party hat at the town. Beta testers also got a free month of Club Penguin membership and 2000 coins added to their accounts. Ever since beta testing, Club Penguin has grown to one of the most popular online games and has over 35 million users worldwide.
